About My Work

I work in Watercolor/gouache, Oil Pastels, Oils, Ink, Acrylics, plaster, wood, wire, cloth, clay, paper, photography, and collage. Artists are the creators of the mythos of society, put into perspective for their particular society’s time frame. It is their job to see what is not seen by those in the midst of the great conflagration which is the distracting, day-to-day experience of living, for many. Artists are interpreters of something which while within them, exists and survives without them. All art exists as life exists, and is as necessary an element of life as eating, sexual intercourse, and language. Whenever any of the necessary elements of life are suppressed for too long a time, individual development is stunted and society decays. But, of course, both being adamant regarding expression, life, and art can not be suppressed for long before erupting in one form or another. There is nothing like; realizing love; arriving on time; recalling an escaped memory; a fully cycled sneeze; getting the punch-line; finding the word or phrase to exactly describe what is going through you at that moment; expressing in private imagery what words fall short of touching; understanding your dreams. My work; the bright and the dark, is all of these and more to me. Creativity is the sister, child, and result of the ever-expanding faculty of Imagination. It is from this infinite reservoir that all aspects of the Arts, Culture, and Sciences emanate. Furthermore, Imagination is not a moral element of infinite existence, and therefore whether it is used beneficially or detrimentally, or at all is dependent upon the developmental level of those involved. The conversation between those viewing the art piece, and the artist, exists on many levels and not everyone can join the conversation as not everyone is fluent in the language of their own imagination. I believe it is of the utmost importance that more people, from childhood on, are given the opportunity to exercise this all-important faculty; I believe human civilization depends upon it.
