In the Old Testament of the Christian Bible, in the 33rd Chapter, the 15th& 16th verse of JOB, it says; “In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falls upon man, in slumberings upon the bed; Then He opens the ears of man, and seals their instructions”.  This is one of the places it can be found to liken our ‘visions of the night’, during sleep, to ‘external’ instruction, which comes from within.  This more than suggests our dreams are not merely worthless meanderings of our less-than-conscious mind.   
“The Vision~ A Revelation in a Dream” is a remembrance of, recognition of- connection to a higher state of consciousness which cannot be denied.   Most forget their ‘visions-of-the-night’, jumping out of bed to ready themselves for work, school, an appointment…..completely forgetting ‘where’ they had been only moments before…’who’ was talking to them, instructing them…admonishing them.   Many years of dream journals have been filled by the artist; tales of the night often accompanied by sketches of the locations seen, the people therein, the emotions displayed, the instructions given.  Artists are chroniclers of ALL worlds~ those readily seen by the human eye, and those perceived by a higher level of perception than the physical.       It is during times after the work has been completed when an artist may step back to reveal to themselves what some other part of them has already acknowledged.  This is an important chronicle.
