“Molten Layers”. 11 x 15” / Oil Pastels, Watercolor on Acid-Free Strathmore Watercolor paper.
What is that seething undercurrent, that multi-layer volcanic current beneathe the brittle façade we all wear so deftly (we hope), which protects the movie-going public from identifying the actual beings we are, which we hesitate to reveal to the world?! It is a lifetime of built-up laughter, tension, irritation, ground-shaking anger, fear & a sympathetic shower of tears for all those we wanted to help, but could not & all those we wanted to punish~ but hesitated to do so for concern we might inflict lasting damage far outweighing the original deed which brought it all about. These layers; reactions to this mortal world of pith & bats breath, become lighter & less substantial, as the days flit by, revealing themselves as so much flotsom & jetsom, in comparison to what is truly important.
But, meanwhile… … we bathe in our worldly suppositions.
This piece is a communication to those who are interested in more than the banal experience of everyday existence.
