People are a never
ending source of fascination for me, and entertainment, I have to add.
And I
am interested in portraying the deeply personal deliberations continually
being weighed during our attempt to connect with one another, and with those
arcane aspects of ourselves we want to know better.
My work mainly revolves around spiritual metamorphoses and social
commentary.
Frequently the
imagery, or storyline, may have their origins in my dream logs.
This being the
case, each piece is a vignette of a moment in eternity. And a moment is not
measured linearly. It is a vibration emanating out from its’ point of
origin, to points unknown. I paint the moment, I paint vibrations, I
paint frozen sounds, moments in eternity.
There is only
one moment, though~ but many aspects. And it may seem like it would take
an eternity to paint these aspects~ but it only appears so because we have
been trained against our innate natures. We have been trained to perceive
linearly, which is very abstract and limited.
When we chance
upon a painting, a sculpture which catches our eye~ we should listen very
carefully with every aspect of us. We don’t listen with only our ears any
more than we see only with our eyes.
Viewing art
requires thoughtful meditation, if one is to discern any meaning~ whether
that of the artist or something relevant to oneself. Sometimes there comes
with viewing something poignant, a revelatory experience~ like love at first
sight, or what has been described as the “Ah-Ha!” experience.
In the end I believe it is a matter of personal growth and responsibility to
interpret ones’ own gut reaction, intuitive response or
emotional/intellectual meanderings at that point. No other individuals’
personal interpretations will be relevant. Reality is a personal issue, one
size does not fit all.
